To move your domain name from another provider to webevi, you need to transfer it. Your domain is not deleted during the transfer, and your website and e-mail keep working as long as the DNS settings are correct.
Check before you start
- The domain must have been registered at least 60 days ago. Newly registered domains, or domains transferred in the last 60 days, cannot be transferred (ICANN rule).
- The transfer lock must be off. Remove the lock in your current provider's panel.
- The domain must not be expired. If it is about to expire, renewing it first is safer.
- Whois privacy must be off and you must have access to the registrant e-mail address. The approval e-mail is sent there.
Step-by-step transfer
- Get the EPP code (Auth Code / transfer code) of your domain from your current provider's panel.
- Go to the Domain Transfer page on webevi.com, enter your domain name and the EPP code.
- Complete the order and payment. The transfer fee also adds 1 extra year to your domain.
- Approve the transfer confirmation e-mail sent to the registrant e-mail address.
- The transfer usually completes within 5-7 days. It can be faster if the old provider approves it.
.tr domains
For extensions such as .com.tr, .tr and .net.tr, transfers are made through the TRABIS system. You can follow the same steps with the transfer code you get from your current provider. The transfer is usually faster.
Will my website go down during the transfer?
No. A transfer only changes where the domain is registered; the DNS (NS) records stay the same. If you are also moving your website to webevi, you can change the NS addresses to dns1.webevi.com and dns2.webevi.com after the transfer is complete.
If you get stuck at any step, you can open a support ticket from your client area.
