How Do I Move My Website from Another Provider to webevi?

Follow the steps below to move your website from another hosting company to webevi without downtime. If you need help during the migration, you can open a support ticket.

1. Back up your old hosting

  • Files: From your old panel (or via FTP), download the whole public_html / httpdocs folder, or compress it (.zip, .tar.gz) and download it.
  • Database: In phpMyAdmin, select your database and download it as a .sql file with Export.
  • E-mail: If you use IMAP, your e-mails are stored on the server; back them up so they are not lost after the move.

2. Prepare webevi

  • Create a new database and user in your panel (Plesk or cPanel).
  • Re-create your e-mail accounts with the same names.

3. Upload files and database

  1. Upload the files to the httpdocs (Plesk) or public_html (cPanel) folder with File Manager or FTP. If you uploaded an archive, use Extract in File Manager.
  2. In phpMyAdmin, select the new database and upload the .sql file with Import.
  3. Update the database details in your site's configuration file. For WordPress this is wp-config.php (DB_NAME, DB_USER, DB_PASSWORD, DB_HOST).

4. Test

To test your site before changing DNS, add your webevi server IP to your computer's hosts file, or use the Preview feature in Plesk.

5. Change DNS

If everything works, change your domain's NS addresses to dns1.webevi.com and dns2.webevi.com. Propagation can take 24-48 hours. Do not close your old hosting account during this time.

The easy way for WordPress

The WP Toolkit > Migrate feature in Plesk, or plugins such as All-in-One WP Migration and Duplicator, move files and database in one package.
