🔍 Validation Type Only the domain name is validated
⏱️ Setup Time Can usually be obtained within a few minutes
💰 Cost The most affordable type of SSL
🧾 Documents No extra documents needed – email or DNS validation is usually enough
🔒 Security Encryption level is the same as EV/OV, but the trust level is lower

✅ When Is DV SSL Used?

  • Personal blogs

  • Small business websites

  • Test and development environments

  • Quick temporary projects

⚠️ Things to Keep in Mind

  • It only gives visitors a “secure connection”; it does not provide corporate trust

  • The company name is not shown in the browser (it is with EV SSL)

  • Fake sites can also get DV SSL, so users should not rely on the padlock icon alone
